Music video by AC/DC performing Bad Boy Boogie.(Apollo Theatre, Glasgow, April 1978)
"Bad Boy Boogie" is a song by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It is the fourth track of their album Let There Be Rock, released in March 1977, and was written by Angus Young, Malcolm Young, and Bon Scott.
Let There Be Rock was produced by the production team of George Young and Harry Vanda, who had been at the helm of the band's previous albums (George was the older brother of Angus and Malcolm). According to Murray Engelheart's band memoir AC/DC: Maximum Rock & Roll, the album was completed in roughly a two-week time frame.
The result was far beyond anything the band had produced before in the studio. The band replicated their live sound, with literally explosive results. There’s no drum machines, no click tracks, no nothing. They’d just hammer at Phil Rudd. In a 1991 interview with Guitar World, Angus recalled, "The album on which we got to do the most guitar stuff was probably Let There Be Rock. Throughout that album, there are many guitar solos and many breaks. I really like some of them very much.
Lyrics
On the day I was born the rain fell down
There was trouble brewin' in my home town
It was the seventh day, I was the seventh son
And I scared the hell out of everyone
They said stop, I heard go
They said fast, I said slow
They said yes, I said no
I do the bad boy boogie
Bein' a bad boy ain't that bad
I had me more dirty women than most men ever had
All you women come along with me
And I'll show you how good a bad boy can be
I said right and they said left
I said east and they said west
I said up and they said down
I do the bad boy boogie... all over town
I wouldn't tell you no story, tell you no lie
I was born to love till the day I die
I just line 'em up and I knock 'em down
And they all came a runnin' when the word got around
Just keep a runnin'
(Bad boy boogie)
I said up, they said down
(Bad boy boogie)
They said straight, I said round
(Bad boy boogie)
They said lost, I said found
(Bad boy boogie)
I said free and they said bound
Bad boy boogie
Do the bad boy boogie
Bad boy boogie
Bad boy boogie
